This time YOU have the opportunity to attend the event and see the new phone unveiled, including a presentation by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei and other OnePlus team members, alongside members of the press. Tickets are around $40, which grants you access to the event as well as one of their popular backpacks filled with free goodies.
TICKETS WILL GO ON SALE NOVEMBER 8 AT 12PM ET — we’ll update this article with a link to purchase tickets, so check back!
The backpack and included items have a value of over $65, so the gift alone pays for the price of admission. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to charity. In the past, OnePlus has done launches in VR and via livestream (as we recall for the mega-popular OnePlus 5 launch), but this is the first time they have done an offline event for a new phone.
While at the event, you’ll be able to go hands-on with what is expected to be one of the most exciting phones of 2017, plus rub elbows with popular writers and video personalities from various websites and YouTube channels, including XDA’s own Editor-in-Chief Mario Serrafero, who will be on-location to film exclusive coverage of the event and the 5T. It’s rare for an OEM to open a new phone launch event to the public, so don’t delay buying a ticket if you’re at all interested in going!
The venue is the Villain in Williamsburg, a trendy yet intimate venue that doesn’t hold many people (meaning limited availability). For those that have attended phone launch events in the past at huge spaces like Radio City Music Hall, the Villain will be an exciting change. We expect tickets to sell out very quickly.
OnePlus is also offering the opportunity for fans outside the US to win a trip to New York for the event through a contest.
For those unable to attend, the launch will stream live on OnePlus’ website, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook on the 16th.
What to Expect
We have very limited info about the new phone, other than it will be called the OnePlus 5T and that it will include a 3.5mm headphone jack.
This tweet from @evleaks shows what is supposedly a leaked image of the 5T. The image shows reduced bezels around the screen, a single-lens front facing camera, and an updated “Never Settle” wallpaper. The screen itself appears to have a gentle radius at the corners like we see on the Galaxy S8, new LG phones, and Pixel 2 XL.
The OnePlus 5 and its two predecessors have a 1080 x 1920 AMOLED screen, but if this new phone has an 18:9 aspect ratio, it will most likely be 1080 x 2160, making it easy to use in one hand despite having a larger (or taller) screen.
We expect all sorts of speculation and additional leaks leading up to the launch event on November 16. The OnePlus 5T will be available on November 21.
