We’ve been hearing various rumors about Samsung’s upcoming flagship tablet since June of last year. Most of those rumors didn’t produce anything tangible (which is why we didn’t cover them), but then things started to get interesting around October. A rumor started to spread about halfway through October that claimed the Galaxy Tab S3 would be launched sometime during the first quarter of 2017. This information came from SamMobile, and we were told that it would be launched in two different models (SM-T820 and SM-T825) for the WiFi and cellular variants.
Things have been relatively quiet since then, barring a few certification and benchmark entries that claim to be of the device, until earlier this month. Samsung started to send out press invites for MWC 2017 on the first of February, and this was the first time they officially teased the device. At the time it was unclear if it was the Galaxy Tab S3, the Galaxy S8, or some other device the company was prepared to launch. Since there have been rumors of the Galaxy S8 ditching the home button though, it seemed like it was going to be the Galaxy Tab S3.
Now, a new rumor shows us what the device is said to look like, and we also get a look at the S Pen that it has been rumored to come with. As you can see from the image above, this leak comes to us from WinFuture, and the S Pen doesn’t look like the traditional S Pen we have come to see from the Galaxy Note series. This device is said to be incredibly thin, so it makes sense that they would not try to store it inside the device like they do the Galaxy Note series.
The rumor says there will not be two different size variants, and that we should expect it to only be launched in a 9.7″ model. Other specs listed here include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, 2048×1536 resolution, 12MP rear camera, 4.7MP front camera, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and about a $580 price tag (for the cellular model).
